Why People Keep Running

A seemingly simple question from Koushik— "Why do people keep running?" Coach Pramod answered it as simple as possible: "It's an individual choice. You need to figure out why you run on your own?" But the question didn’t stop there—it continued running in my head. I had my reasons. Or at least, I thought I did. But I wanted to know what others thought. And just like that, the chase for answers began… To capture the impact of time—the fourth dimension—I reframed the question: 📍 Why did you start running? 📍 Why are you running now? I reached out to nearly 100 runners—some new, some seasoned, some chasing goals, some chasing something within. That’s when I realized: I have over 25 runner contacts saved on my phone. A surprise even to me. The past year has unknowingly made me part of the running community. Waves of Footsteps: A Run Around Ullal Lake

The morning was fresh, with a promise of another beautiful and memorable run as we gathered at Ullal Lake. We were excited for another run. Suresh and Dwaraki were already chatting away, stretching, and warming up for what they knew would be an exciting run. As they playfully teased each other, Vasudha and I exchanged smiles, both feeling the quiet anticipation of another nature run. Suresh: "Another lake, another run! Let’s see who can finish first today." Dwaraki: "I’m sure it’s you, Suresh. I’m here to enjoy all of your company!" Me: (Laughing) "We’re just here to enjoy the run, right? Nature’s the winner today, no matter who finishes first." The excitement was clear, reflected in the still water of the lake. As we started moving, there was a natural rhythm to our steps.
